Dental veneers are a common cosmetic treatment option used to alter the shape and position of front teeth.

Quite often orthodontic options are recommended when desired results primarily involve re-positioning, or straightening, of front teeth. However, when such orthodontic options alone are not sufficient or are not a desirable option, one can consider veneers.

Dental veneers are used most often as cosmetic solutions for cracked or chipped front teeth or front teeth with stains resistant to teeth whitening processes, but they are also an excellent cosmetic dental option that can address a multitude of structural and aesthetic dental issues.

Made of the highest quality dental porcelain or composite materials, dental veneers are created as a thin layer that is bonded over your existing tooth. Able to be precisely colour-matched to your existing teeth, dental veneers can transform misshapen, misaligned or cracked teeth into uniformly shaped, perfectly smooth teeth that can light up your smile. We can even organise a trip to our local dental laboratory in order for the ceramist to make a precise match to your tooth colour.

Your experienced dentist at Oatlands Dental Lounge in Weybridge will discuss the merits and results that will be accomplished with your dental veneers, from adding strength to a cracked tooth to improving the overall appearance of crooked or stained teeth. Whether you are looking at a single dental veneer, a partial restoration, or a full smile makeover, the simplicity of dental veneers can be an excellent cosmetic dental option when other options, such as an orthodontic solution, are not available or inappropriate in your case.

Dental veneers require minimal tooth preparation and normally only two visits to complete.

Discoloured, chipped or cracked teeth can benefit from a veneer. A thin layer of the tooth surface is shaved off. A veneer is made to fit perfectly, protecting the tooth underneath.

The Basics of Your Dental Veneer Treatment

After a thorough consultation, at your first visit a tiny amount of outer enamel is precisely removed from your tooth to ensure an excellent bonding surface for the veneer. An imprint of your tooth is created and forwarded to the Laboratory as a mould for your new veneer.

The amount of enamel removed from your tooth is not always sufficient to require any temporary veneer; you may notice the surface is slightly less smooth than normal.

At your second visit, your new dental veneer will be placed for you to see how it looks before bonding. If all is satisfactory, your dentist will then bond the veneer in place using a special adhesive.

Your dental veneer is now securely in place and fully functional.

Dental veneers may be just the cosmetic solution you’ve been dreaming of for a beautiful smile that is perfectly you. Please ask any of our team members about how dental veneers might make a positive difference to your smile.
